Wednesday madness

Happy Wednesday! It's mid week and I am feeling the crunch-- not those crunches....haven't been to the gym in for eva'!! Kinda' makes me feel like crap about myself but I'll go back.....once this house gets on the market! I've been a busy bee working on our bedroom..thoroughly convinced that that room alone could sell this house...which is actually not the case, but what evs! I have spent the last few days making a fabric covered headboard and matching bed skirt which I am sure the realtor would agree is totes necessary in the process of getting our house ready! ( details on the headboard tomorrow along with a link to a tutorial and some changes I made) Never mind the chips in the stair risers that I am supposed to be fixing. If you give them pretty decor to look at they wont even notice the little flaws right? Glad you agree.

Hubs did finally realize that he is going to be subjected to a purple bed-- I tried to pass it off as a greyish amethyst but he didn't buy it! He reverts to his one of two options when it comes to decor "I love it" or "i'll warm up to it" I am adding a super manly strip to the mix.... hopefully he'll warm up to it! I can't wait to share the finished product with you. And quite honestly, I can't wait for it to be finished. Reinforcements are flying in today. My mom is coming to help..she is soooo super motivated all the time and ready to conquer any task so I know she'll be a big help.  Today I am working on slipcovering the couch in our bedroom...a nice blue tone on tone modern matelasse. It may or may not be piped with something fabulous. Hopefully hubs won't mind that either. Love you babe!

Since it is Random Wednesday and I am linking up with the fabulous Shanna, I feel I owe you a few random happenings

My face hurts. My brother would get a huge kick out of would the guy who has to sleep in the purple bed :) I had microderm for the first time yesterday and my face looks and feels like I sat in the sun all day! Olivia told me I should plan on not going out of the house and requested that I stay far away from school! lol. I'll take that into consideration.

On the style front...because, come on, the world does not stop shopping when there are time sensitive matters to deal with... I am obsessed with his jacket.

You can find it here...on serious sale! If you have checked the current Los Angeles vs. Cincinnati weather, you know that I will be needing this. Had an epiphany last night-- I will need totally separate clothes for summer and winter now! for thought. I think I'll have to start a winter style pinboard.

Happy hump day lovelies!

Ohhhhh- hi-o!

Annnnd here I am! Hi. Hi there! Yes, it has been along time! A reeeeally long time. I often struggle with this little blog here. Struggle with my commitment to it because it's sort of my little happy place of fun and indulgence. I blog because I like to and when it seems to be too much work or when I feel like I don't have enough time to do a proper, worthy, inspiring post then I just simply let it slide by. Which sort of sucks, don't you think? I'm sorry.

Let me explain what's been going on around here...We spent a week in the mountains and I brought my laptop with me. I had high hopes and big dreams of holing up in front of the fire and writing so much that I would arrive home prepared with a backlog of posts just waiting to be launched. #notsomuch Our mountain vacation was amazing! It was relaxing and very family focused. We spent everyday out in the snow, either tubing or skiing. We would return to the cabin happily exhausted and settle in for a movie and bed. My laptop hardly made it out of my bag. I knew that the weeks ahead were going to be action packed to say the least so I chose to have a little down time with the kids instead of blogging. I'm ok with that....because I knew what was on the schedule when we returned. A full day of appointments interviewing realtors on Saturday, the kids going back to school on Monday and Brian and I flying out to Ohio on Wednesday. So here we are on Sunday, 10 days later and it seems like forever has been hired and making lists of what needs to be done to get our house on the market.  We are moving to Cincinnati!!

I have lots to say about this topic but I won't launch into an even more long winded post (not that this isn't already!)  It's been an insightful process so far. This is completely a choice for us. Brian was sought out for a promotion within his company.  He has a great job here, and we could stay here, in sunny, delicious SoCal... but when push came to shove, adventure and progression is what we chose. I was born in England, moved to the US when I was 5, lived in Texas, Northern California and New York before heading to college and meeting Brian. Together we moved from college in NY to California then Chicago then Kansas City then back to Northern California and finally to Southern California (where I honestly thought we would stay forever!) and now Ohio! Clearly it is in my blood! I'm a wanderer. This will be it for us until both of the girls are off to college (which seems like a looooong time away but it's actually the same amount of time we have been in SoCal! 8 years. ) And then...well...who knows? I have never felt more emotionally attached to a city than when we were in Paris.   I always say SoCal is in my soul... but Paris....Paris is Paris. So maybe Europe?? Or maybe we'll stay in Ohio forever!

So where does this leave my lovely little blog and my shop?? In the shuffle of all of this.... I am hoping to keep it together! But I clearly can't make any promises. I have a laundry list of home projects to do in two weeks and will take pics along the way. I hope to share them here but if they don't make it, you can tune in for quick, easy updates on Instagram. I'm also itching to make things for the shop but that obvi has to be completely on the back burner for now.   I hope you lovelies will stick around and pop on in from time to time.  I'm sure there will be some comic relief along the way that will be more than worthy or chatting about.

Now I'm off to make a bed skirt....since that's what normal people do when they wake up at 5am on the weekend!!

In the bedroom...

It's not that kind of post!! Get your mind out of the gutter! Does January send you into "spruce it up" mode? I always find myself in the mood to redecorate after taking down Christmas decorations...the house feels like such a blank slate! Our master bedroom has never really gotten much attention, we are fortunate a very large space that has a raised area where our "bedroom" is and another area that functions as a living room for us. I dislike it in! Every single one! A makeover IS for sure in store! Inspiration? Thank you house beautiful!

The only item from our bedroom that will stay is this coral rug that I absolutely LOVE!

And I am completely obsessed with the lilac headboard!! The grey, blue, coral, all of it is fabulous!! And last time I was at my fave fabric store they just happened to have the most perfect lilac slub linen.

It will be made into a fabric covered headboard...can hardly wait! Don't tell Brian though...he has no idea the bed is going purple! Maybe I can convince him it's really grey? Or maybe he'll be too distracted by the manly blue and brown stripe to even notice the lilac??  Yeah, yes, that will work!

Do you have any decorating projects that you are just dying to get to this year??

Friday's Fancies 2013 - Versatility is key

This weeks Friday's Fancies theme is centered around the New Year. The outfit I put together is one of versatility...something that I know is going to be key in my world this year. Being flexible, comfortable and polished are always important.

T shirt / Equipment silk blouse / Rock & Republic low rise jeans / NIKE sneaker

Welcome 2013! I will rock you in snake print Metallic jeans and a blue shoe of choice -- depending on whether I need to run or walk. (I'm dying for high tops this year....not sure what that's all about but Imma' work it!) A demure silk top can work in any situation so should be a staple in the closet, a chic sweatshirt to tell the world what it's all about when the weather shift. Statement necklaces and handmade bags will for sure send me frolicking into a happy, healthy, prosperous year. Bring it!!  Oh and if you love that little sparkly clutch...there's still one in my shop! It's one of a kind so grab it if you love it!

Wishing the same for all of you in the new year.

All that Glitters : saw it. pinned it. did it.

Happy Thursday ladies! It's day 3 of the New year and i am feeling so revitalized and motivated (and a little spastic due to the three espressos I've had this morning already. Gosh I LURVE our new Nespresso machine!!) I have mentioned before that Christmas cards are my guilty indulgence every year. Professional photos are required as is some sort of quote that runs the theme of the shoot and feel of the cards. This year it all started with this pin

and this quote....of course also found on Pinterest.

I SWEAR I don't know what we all did before Pinterest!! Inspired by those pins, and every.single. shot I could find the resulting card is my favorite yet!!

What do you think?? Thanks, Pinterest!! You inspire me daily!

Happy 2013

Hello there beautiful. Haven't seen you since last year! It's 2013 and this year is going to be big for our family. Have you made any resolutions?? I'm not big on resolutions...other than resolving to not eat Nutella directly out of the jar, I'm going to mix it with Greek yogurt...I'm not making any specific promises. This certainly doesn't mean I don't have goals for the year, I absolutely do! I really want to just do everything a little bit better. I want to really pay attention to life and to enjoy it and to feel grateful on a daily basis.

I couldn't sleep on New Years Eve, I lay in bed awake until 3am...which totally sucks because if I'm up until 3am I should totally be out somewhere living it up or something!! oh wait...I'm old! lol. My brain was going a mile a minute not only about the future (change is in the air...big change) but also about the end of the year, where things got a little stressful with extended family. What I decided was that I am not bringing any of that into 2013 with me. I let it go....which was amazing because some things had been on my mind, really bothering me on a daily basis. I am completely over it. Life is so much easier when you just accept yourself and others in your life for who they are. So I finally did fall asleep and I woke up in the New Year and really felt like I was in a different space. I lay in bed and thought only about the blessings in my life and the things that I am thankful for. I will do this every single morning this year. Take the first five minutes of my day and count my blessings. Waking up to gratitude every morning is the best way to start the day! Maybe that's my resolution...

I hope your New Year is starting out fabulously. The kids are out of school for another two weeks so I can't make any promises about how much I will be popping in here...I'm trying to spend time with them while they still think I'm fun...or at least a little fun :)
