Buckets o' fun.

It's sunny this morning, but we're supposed to get more rain today. Hopefully not much-- worthy of a bucket, not a sump pump or two?? Please....rain gods?
Here is a bit more of the aftermath from last weeks shut in {bucket bags!}...I refused to go just about anywhere, and have the goods to show for it. {Maybe I should do that more often!}

I love this grey bag....love it! Paula's Woodland Delight is delightful! I even found inspiration to go a little neutral. A gorgeous wool herringbone bag is so versatile!

These and more in the shop this morning. Then I'm off to my favorite local flea market....wish me luck!

Have a sunny day!

Cozy Up

I made it through a week of rain! I (yes, I) had to install and monitor two pumps in the backyard to stop the house from floating away. Luckily the water stayed away from the studio....THAT could have been a REAL PROBLEM! I like my floors, but my fabric, well....need I say more? Ya'll should have seen me running around the yard in the rain. Not a happy camper.... Have I told you how much I hate being rained on? Holding on to an umbrella while schlepping hoses and pumps around the backyard was not an option. At one point, I even fell into a three inch puddle. I laugh now, then, not so much! But I made it through.....I AM a rain warrior. And I did at least have cute boots on, I mean when all else fails, cute shoes are the answer, right?? They are still outside drying in the sun.

Fortunately the sun is back today! Thank you sunshine, I could not take another day of torrential rain like that.

The good thing is that when I was not lugging pumps and hoses I was cozied up in the studio happily sewing away! Cozy was the theme, for sure. A new scrap pile project....girls hoodies. How fun are these? My girls live in hoodies and I get so sick of seeing Roxy and Hollister plastered all over their bodies! These are such a refreshing change. I made a few skirts to go with them too.....fun for all seasons. Hoodies will be the shop this afternoon, email me if you are interested in the skirts, they have not been photo'd yet.

Stay warm, stay dry, stay creative.

Talk of the Tea Party

We're home from a weekend in Northern California. We were up there to celebrate my brothers birthday and to help decorate his house. SO FUN! I didn't take many photos as it was one of those mad-dash weekends. Lots to do, not much time. I'll post more about it another time. Another reason we were up there was to meet a girlfriends new baby. Miss Charlotte is a treasure! Other peoples babies are so wonderful! I of course do not show up empty handed to have tea and talk baby. I thought a fabulous teddy bear was in order for the new addition and decided I should make an extra.

Style starts young, ya'll! If your teddy bear is going to wear something, it should be something of the Gardenhouse variety, no? The fabrics on this baby are unbelievable, Tina Givens, Amy Butler, Sandi Henderson, Jennifer Paganelli.....they are all there. This one is listed in the shop. I'm not sure if I'll make any more....depends on the feedback I get. Oh and I also whipped up some fun travel mugs. Perfect little Valentine's Day gifts. They're in the shop too.

The weather is hideous right now....raining, pouring, tornado warnings in SOCal. No joke. Not pretty. The good news is, power is on and so is the sewing machine...and the tea! Cold, rainy days make me just want to stay home and hunker down. Uggs, tea, a blanket, a bear and an over sized sweater...perfection.

She is pure sweetness (most of the time.) This photo captured her perfectly.

She's in tunic two of four...no marathon photo session today. Not in the mood, Miss A. Still sweet though. And don't you just love the tunic? It is the perfect mix of vintage modern...the navy squares fabric reminds me of the Hollywood Regency styles (love that!) The brown floral is so vintage I'm just drooling over here.. LOVE it! So I'm thinking I might need to make this for (myself) ladies too. What do you think? Would you wear it? I think I would. Yeah, I would, definitely. Especially with these....

These are Miss A's....If you are going to be THAT sweet and wear some pretty rugged boots, ya' better add a little sugar, ya' know. Doesn't a vintage bauble make EVERYTHING fabulous? I'm not sure I'd rock them with the bling but she sure can work it! I think I would actually prefer something a little more like these....

Funny enough, they are by Jessica Simpson. I'm actually pretty impressed with her line of shoes. I sort of fell like I shouldn't admit that...... anyway, they're cute. And I love her song Come On Over. Did you know I'm a huge country music fan? (OK this is heading south fast...turning in to a totally random post. I had better stop while I'm ahead...sort of ahead at least. )

Sunshine Daydream

While many of you are experiencing snow days, we are living in a sunshine daydream. It's been in the mid 70's in SoCal this week....I love winter, sigh. Perfect weather to show you a little of what I have been working on. This will be in the shop soon along with the four other girls tunics I have designed for spring.. Made to order.

This gal is growing up! She's nine now....nine!!!! Makes me feel old! Isn't she amazing? She loved the headband---said she looked like Taylor Swift!

Happy sunny Saturday!

Happy New-ish Year

We will open the book. It's pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and it's first chapter is New Year's Day.

~Edith Lovejoy Pierce

I started this post four days ago. It's a scary start to the new year, I know-- so much so that I almost don't want to talk about it in fear of implanting some sort of stoic negativity into the threads of 2010. So, I have decided to ignore the fact that there have been numerous obstacles to the start of my new year, and am now just pretending that it is January 3rd-- so please do the same and read on...

Happy New year to all of you!! I am fresh off of the most spectacular holiday season I have had in years (minus one epic meltdown) and I am so excited about the opportunities this year holds. I think New Years Day might actually be my favorite holiday. I feel so re-energized every January first that it is hard not to love it. I've been working on many new things in the studio-- I've been manic in there I tell you...like some sort of a mad scientist, I feel like all those ideas I didn't get to last year need to be put into fabric NOW! I'll share photos with you when I get my computer back up and running-- It seems my back light has decided to stop working eight short weeks out of warranty- go figure! Probably something to do with the pineapple juice that was spilled on it by some cute, sticky, unnamed little girl. Some things you just have to give in to-- this is one of them. I'm not going to let it ruin my New Year! A new monitor is on it's way (has actually now arrived and is sitting on the table waiting to be opened- too busy in the studio to get to it today...oh how I love my new little project :) ) and I'll be back in business in no time. I can't wait to show you all what I've been working on. Some fun new things for 2010. Coming soon.... (as long as it doesn't take me 4 days to get my next post up and running)

Cheers....to a postive, creative and happy 2010
